Rugby's Greatest Rivalry: All Blacks Face Four Springbok Tests, One in Baltimore

The biggest story of the All Blacks' 2026 is already locked in, and it is a beauty. The men in black will play the Springboks four times across August and September, with the finale taking the sport's fiercest rivalry to American soil for the first time.

The Citizen reported that the tour was confirmed and announced on 16 October 2025, promoted as "Rugby's Greatest Rivalry", with the All Blacks touring South Africa for a full slate of provincial games and four tests against the world champions.

The test series opens on 22 August at Ellis Park in Johannesburg, moves to Cape Town Stadium on 29 August, and returns to Johannesburg's FNB Stadium on 5 September, as The Citizen listed. Then comes the twist that has made rugby fans everywhere sit up.

The fourth test will be staged at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore on 12 September, the NZ Herald confirmed, marking the first time the All Blacks and Springboks have played each other in the United States. The 71,000-seat home of the NFL's Baltimore Ravens will host the decider, part of a push to grow the game in America ahead of Rugby World Cups on US soil in the years to come.

Baltimore's organisers are just as thrilled to land it. In their own announcement, the Ravens described the fixture as one of the most iconic match-ups in international rugby coming to the United States for the first time.

The good news for New Zealand fans is that the team heads into the tour in fine touch. RNZ reported that the All Blacks completed the inaugural Nations Championship unbeaten, winning all three July tests, capped by a 40-21 victory over Ireland that stretched their Eden Park unbeaten run to 53 straight tests.

Coach Dave Rennie is pleased but far from satisfied. "We've got a lot more in us," he told RNZ, while acknowledging the Springboks loom as the biggest challenge of his tenure. RNZ noted that even a South African second-string side beat a strong Scotland team in July, a reminder of the depth waiting across the four tests.

Rennie names his squad for the six-week tour on 27 July, per RNZ. From Ellis Park to Cape Town to a floodlit night in Baltimore, this is shaping as a series to savour, and the All Blacks arrive with plenty of belief.
