The Hurricanes Try Machines Now Chasing All Blacks Wings

Two of the most electric finishers in Super Rugby Pacific are about to swap Hurricanes yellow for the black jersey, and it is hard to imagine a better story for New Zealand rugby fans.

As Stuff reported, new All Blacks coach Dave Rennie has named four uncapped players in his first squad. Two of them, Fehi Fineanganofo and Josh Moorby, come straight out of a Hurricanes side that just conquered the competition.

The reward is fully earned. Ruck reported that both men finished the 2026 season as joint-top try-scorers with 17 tries each, having helped the Hurricanes lift the Super Rugby Pacific title. When two players from the same team share the try-scoring crown, you know the attack was humming.

Fineanganofo, a 23-year-old wing, is described by Ruck as "the ultimate finisher", and the numbers back it up. Give him a sniff of the line and he takes it.

Moorby brings a different kind of value. The 27-year-old covers both fullback and wing, and Ruck noted he saved his best for the biggest stage, scoring two tries in the Hurricanes' emphatic 60-5 Super Rugby Pacific final win over the Chiefs. A big-game temperament like that is exactly what you want heading into test rugby.

They are not the only Hurricanes rewarded. Ruck reports that loose-head prop Xavier Numia also earned a maiden call-up after a season that put him in the Super Rugby Pacific Team of the Season, while Blues flanker Anton Segner rounds out Rennie's four uncapped names.

For supporters, the appeal is obvious. These are players who have just proved themselves in the biggest moments of the club season, and now they get their shot at the highest level. The competition for outside-back spots in the All Blacks is fierce, but form like this demands attention.
